The Zeitgeist of Tweets overt time in nice bubbles..

What’s Up  features an animated bubble scatterplot to convey a visual overview of Twitter’s most popular conversation subjects in time.

Each subject is represented by a unique bubble, of which the size corresponds to its popularity. Popularity has also been mapped to the vertical location of the bubble, whereas the horizontal position represents a subjects’s longevity, that is how long a specific subject has been discussed. A time bar allows for various forms of interaction, such as selecting the time period shown, which can range from months to hours.

Liking the beta Facebook timeline thingo. Due to launch soon, apparently.
Much more intuitive than the last update. However it seems like a sensible progression… as we all know how anti change most users are.
It also seems a lot more newsy, editorial and flipboardy. Generally a good improvement. Oooh the social media landscape is getting interesting isn’t it!.

A new beta home page is being tested currently.
Usability wise it has a strong tablet feel about it. It’s lacking some of the BBC lustre/look and feel that we’ve grown used to. I’m sure this will come along. As an exercise of displaying content in a new an engaging way I’m not sure either. The hierarchy of content seems a little jumbled.
